Our Impact
Why this work important.
New Memphis invests in the most important resource our city has: its people. People are what power great organizations and successful cities. As our community pursues economic development, a talented and growing workforce is the most important resource to attract and grow businesses in Memphis. We know the work of improving our city and ourselves is never finished.
How do we do it.
We deliver on our mission by infusing our city with leaders who are passionate about positive community change and have the skills needed to take action. From the experienced executive to the college student, New Memphis provides a continuum of leadership development and community engagement opportunities that impact participants. We work to inspire and develop a pipeline of civically responsible leaders to help Memphis live into its full potential.
We aspire to more than just population and economic growth in Memphis, but growth that builds the diversity of our people, increases opportunity, and extends across every zip code.

COVID-19
Building relationships is foundational to the New Memphis leadership program experience, and we know from virtual classes that this is best done when people are meeting together in-person, where spontaneous interactions happen and trusting friendships can be forged. Because of this, our staff has worked hard to bring our programs safely back to in-person experiences. If you have questions please email info@newmemphis.org.
- We require all participants to stay home if they are unwell (and alert your program lead, like you would for any absence) and to notify their program lead of any exposure to or confirmed case of COVID-19.
- New Memphis’ COVID protocols are based on guidance from the CDC for masking based on community levels of COVID. Currently, Shelby County is experiencing low community levels of COVID, and wearing masks at New Memphis programs and events is optional but strongly recommended.
- New Memphis always follows any venue-specific rules when program participants are visiting off-site locations and will alert attendees in advance of those rules.
