New Memphis Fellows Application

Fellows is the premier community-wide leadership development experience for mid-career leaders in Memphis. With a history that spans over 15 years, the year-long program is designed for high-performing professionals who are already excelling in their careers and positively impacting our community, but who are seeking to amplify that power through access to new connections, skills and experiences.

COVID-19 Protocols
Building relationships is foundational to the New Memphis leadership program experience, and we know from our past year of virtual classes that this is best done when people are meeting together in-person, where spontaneous interactions happen and trusting friendships can be forged. Because of this, our staff has worked hard to bring our programs safely back to in-person experiences. If you have questions please email info@newmemphis.org.
  • We require all participants to stay home if they are unwell (and alert your program lead, like you would for any absence) and to notify their program lead of any exposure to or confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • New Memphis' COVID protocols are based on guidance from the CDC for masking based on community levels of COVID. Currently, Shelby County is experiencing low community levels of COVID, and wearing masks at New Memphis programs and events is optional but strongly recommended.
  • New Memphis always follows any venue-specific rules when program participants are visiting off-site locations and will alert attendees in advance of those rules.

Please email kaylon@newmemphis.org to discuss any questions regarding our COVID-19 protocols.

In the text boxes below please provide your response to the following questions. Responses should be 100-200 words in length.
Note: We recommend typing & saving your responses in another program and cutting & pasting them into the space below.

References

Applicants are required to submit information for two references with their application and have the option to submit reference letters from those references. If you would like to have reference letters submitted on you behalf please forward the form found here to your references for them to complete. References may be someone who has worked with you in a professional setting, community or volunteer colleagues, college faculty and/or other personal references (not including relatives).

Please read: If you choose to submit letters from your references, New Memphis accepts the electronic submission of them via the link above. Letters are not required, and it is not mandatory that these letters be kept confidential from applicants, so please work with references to determine how best to proceed with submission. If references would prefer to send their letters directly to New Memphis, they can email them to christina@newmemphis.org.

Administrative Fee
The true cost of this yearlong experience is $7,000. However, New Memphis receives generous support from corporations, foundations and individuals to significantly offset that cost, safeguarding a level playing field.

Fellows pay a $1,200 administrative fee to help ensure a top quality experience. This fee can be paid over time, and a range of payment options are available. Unquestionably, the value of the experience far exceeds the fee.

We request that Fellows pay a quarter of their fee ($300) to guarantee their spot when they are notified of their acceptance to the program. At that time, payment options for the remainder of the fee can be arranged.
Commitment to 100% Participation
Full participation of each member of the Fellows class is key to the group's cohesiveness and crucial to the individual Fellows' experience. As such, attendance at every session over the next 12 months of training is mandatory. If any of the session dates present a conflict, we encourage you to consider applying at a later time.

Note: April cohort sessions are primarily in the evenings, whereas September cohort sessions are held mostly during the day.
