-Amy Manning

"I always have to give New Memphis credit for the role it played in my career. I would probably still be waiting to make a move if I hadn’t seen people out there doing things that they were passionate about."

-Kandace Stewart, Memphis Grizzlies

"Getting involved with the New Memphis Fellows program opened my eyes to other walks of life, challenges, and opportunities. It changed my thought process by being around an eclectic group of people. Sharing ideas and meeting like-minded individuals you might not have met otherwise shaped me greatly."

-Mickell Lowery

"My Fellows experience was truly transformative. I expected it to be informative and give me a new network, but it helped me imagine Memphis in a new way. I knew the city had a rhythm, but Fellows helped me see the larger symphony at play. "

-Sherica Hymes

"The program helped me to become a better leader because it gives you the tools and skills to become a better leader. It also exposed me to other areas [of Memphis] I wouldn't have seen otherwise. "

-Wang-Ying Glasgow

"I loved my Fellows experience. To meet people who I hadn’t known, and I continue to see and work with is amazing. I don’t have to know all the answers in my job, but I have to be able to call upon people who know how to get something done. Watching all these people and seeing what they’re doing - I love knowing smart people and I’ve been able to listen and learn from them. I always encourage our employees to do it because it grounds you in Memphis. And if you’re not from here, you learn a lot about how authentic Memphis is. "

-Sara Burnett

"Each time I have contemplated leaving Memphis, some form of New Memphis programming has reinvigorated my passion and zeal for the city."

"The Fellows Program really impacted my marriage because of the Myers-Briggs personality test. I learned about my own personality and, out of curiosity, I asked my wife to take it. Funny enough, we realized that we are complete opposites in every category. So, we were able to figure out how to communicate with each other better."

-Worth Jones

"I loved the balance of community and corporate in the Fellows program. It gave me the tools I needed to help me both in my community and my job. "

-Julie Acosta

"The Fellows is definitely one of those career changing experiences that really breaks you out of your comfort zone, making you more aware of the leadership opportunities in your job and also in your community."

-JT Malasri

Curriculum Information

We strive to ensure the makeup of our programs represents the diversity of our city and our classes are kept intentionally small (25-30) to encourage self-exploration and team building. The program curriculum divides its time between personal leadership development and community action.

Our next Fellows cohort will begin in April and the sessions will primarily be in the morning. You can view the upcoming calendar here.

If you have any questions about the Fellows curriculum or its application process, please contact kaylon@newmemphis.org.

For questions regarding programmatic plans in response to COVID-19, please visit the "about" section of the New Memphis website.
