Launch: Accelerate FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
What will happen with my program in response to COVID-19?

A:
Please visit the "about" section of the New Memphis website.
Q:
How do I become a member of the Launch: Accelerate cohort?

A:
Applicants must be in their Junior or Senior year of college. In addition, you must submit an application and receive acceptance into the Program, then make a commitment to attend all scheduled classes. We encourage you to apply to the program if you are interested and encourage community partners to nominate potential talent for our program. Applications and nominations are accepted each year between March 1st and August 1st.
Q:
What is the difference between Launch: Campus to Career and the Launch: Accelerate cohort?

A:
Launch: Campus to Career is a series of free events that are open to all college students (local, undergraduate and graduate students) that occur year around. Accelerate is a 3-month program for local college students (juniors and seniors) that equips them to be successful in a Memphis-area internship. Students have to be nominated and complete an application.
Q:
What is the time commitment?

A:
There is a total of 7 classes and each class is approximately 2.5 hours long. The preliminary scheduled can be found on the application and the final schedule is provided upon acceptance into the program. The total number of hours spent over the course of a 3-month period is approximately 18 hours.
Q:
Where are the program classes held?

A:
The first class takes place at the New Memphis office. Each class thereafter is held at a different location around Memphis. You will receive a final schedule in your acceptance letter into the program.
Q:
How many people are in each cohort?

A:
The average number of participants in each cohort is 30. We currently offer a Fall cohort with a rolling acceptance until the class is fully enrolled. This program is an exclusive opportunity for the best and brightest, and space is limited.
Q:
Is each class mandatory?

A:
Full participation by each member of the cohort is key to the group's cohesiveness and crucial to the individual’s experience. As such, attendance at every session over the three-month program is expected.
Q:
How much does the program cost?

A:
While the actual value is over $1,000 per participant, our community and corporate partners enable us to offer the program for free to participants.
