Application

Great teachers are critical to our city’s future success.
Stride is a free program that offers the support early career teachers need to thrive as educators in Memphis. In addition to social outings and fun opportunities to explore Memphis, Stride provides an environment of collaborative learning, peer networking, and professional development. By engaging teachers in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd years in the classroom, Stride helps retain our community’s most promising educators.  In recognition of your commitment to investing in yourself, we invest in you with a semesterly stipend for participation.  Stride teachers are eligible to earn up to 12 Professional Development Points (PDPs) per year through attending Laps.
COVID-19 Protocols
Building relationships is foundational to the New Memphis leadership program experience, and we know from virtual classes that this is best done when people are meeting together in-person, where spontaneous interactions happen and trusting friendships can be forged. Because of this, our staff has worked hard to bring our programs safely back to in-person experiences. If you have questions please email info@newmemphis.org.
  • We require all participants to stay home if they are unwell (and alert your program lead, like you would for any absence) and to notify their program lead of any exposure to or confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • New Memphis’ COVID protocols are based on guidance from the CDC for masking based on community levels of COVID. While Shelby County is experiencing low community levels of COVID, wearing masks at New Memphis programs and events will be optional but strongly recommended.
  • New Memphis always follows any venue-specific rules when program participants are visiting off-site locations and will alert attendees in advance of those rules.

Please email erin@newmemphis.org to discuss any questions regarding our COVID-19 protocols.
